After pitching this concept in class people asked me what the game play would be like. For the gameplay I wanted it to be similar to be Outlast where the player has to avoid being detected by the guards patrolling the area and can interact with certain objects.

Gameplay from Outlast 1.

Here the player is avoiding the maniac. If the player is spotted by the maniac, he would chase the player and try to kill him. But in Outlast the player has an option to out run people chasing them and hide until whoever is chasing them loses interest in them, returning back to the stealth game play.

Similarly in my game if the sentry spots the player then it pretty much is game over. However unlike Outlast the player cannot run away from the sentry and hide once detected.

The other thing player in Outlast do is interact with objects in order to progress the story and move to the next environment.

Gameplay from Outlast 1.

Here the player is turn on two gas pumps to activate the generator. Similarly in my game the player will be avoiding the patrolling sentries going from room to room, discovering what happened in this place.

The other major question people had was the interaction between my player and the supporting AI. They advised me to thoroughly flesh out the character as most of the game depends on that character. To tackle this the first reference that came to mind is Tales from the Borderlands. There are 2 characters Gortys and Loader Bot that make the game so much better with their personality and hilarious comments.

They are well written characters and so I made it a goal of mine to write a character that the player would have a strong bond with. The character I am working I am working on are not going to be funny like Gortys and Loader Bot but will definitely have a strong connection with the character.
