So in the previous week we pitched our game and got approval to move forward but there was criticism stating that the use of scientist which is one of the factions in our game in a negative light might be a bad idea as in our current climate with covid 19 there are a lot of mixed discussions regarding scientists and so we should be very careful as how we move forward portraying them.
The idea with the scientist faction was that they are people just trying to find the quickest solution but it ended up back firing. Scientists are people too striving for good but made the odd tiny mistake that spiralled out of their hands. After the feedback I changed the group of scientists as a faction who still relied on technology and wanted to pursue space travel. I still had to think of a name for this group.
The Naturists spreading their message, making scientists look like the bad guys along with the bio beings. The player is born and raised in this faction so at the start of the game they set out with this mindset but through environmental story telling and interacting with characters the player will come to realise that their Naturists is taking advantage of the fact that they are the dormant faction and so are spreading their propaganda which differs from reality.
As for the Bio Beings they were initially created as punching bags for the player. Monster just to be slayed. But I felt there could be more I can do with the story. So I have them a backstory as well. The Bio Beings were created for purpose which was to cleanse by consuming the pollutants in our environment. Once the world was purified these Bio Beings would die without any food. This is the intent they were created with but what had happened is that as these Bio Beings consumed pollutants the more they started evolving and became sentient. They came to realise their purpose in this world but felt unfair, how they were simply created to serve their creators purpose just to die. Instead of a reward on a job well done they were sentenced to death. They felt that they deserved to exist in this world like another creature. The Bio Beings evolved to a point where they could consume humans and survive and this began the revolution.
